Practice Overview

Since completing his training in 1993 Dr. Steven Shoen has gradually tailored his practice to its current blend of plastic surgery cases. Dr. Shoen performs  cosmetic procedures as well as complex reconstructive cancer and trauma surgery. Through these procedures Dr. Shoen restores appearance, form and even function. Hand Surgery is a subspecialty of Plastic Surgery taught to all Plastic Surgery Residents. Having furthered his Plastic Surgery training with a Fellowship in Microsurgical Reconstruction and Hand Surgery Dr Shoen performs an array of Hand Surgery Procedures. Surgery is carried out at several locations. Cosmetic procedures are typically performed at the CARES Surgery Center in New Brunswick, as are minor reconstructive procedures and most upper extremity operations. Major reconstructive surgery such as breast reconstruction is routinely performed at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital or Saint Peters University Hospital, both in New Brunswick. Dr Shoen also performs surgery at a surgery center in the Monroe area, and on occasion at JFK Hospital in Edison or Raritan bay Medical center in Old Bridge. Some cosmetic procedures such as cosmetic eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty), or scar revisions are performed in Dr. Shoen's office procedure room.

Our office participates with several health insurance plans. If you visit us "out of network" we will assist you with submission of your insurance forms. At your request we will provide you with information regarding your financial responsibilities in "out of network" situations.
