Can gauged or plugged ears be reconstructed?
Gauged ears can be reconstructed at an office procedure performed under local anesthesia. Each case must be individualized and planned carefully to yield the best possible result. In most cases the resulting earlobe will be quite acceptable in size and shape.
Following reconstruction can earlobes be pierced?
Dr. Shoen prefers to pierce a reconstructed earlobe himself to make certain that the new piercing site is appropriately positioned. Ears are pierced roughly three months after reconstruction.
