What does a Breast lift (Mastopexy) entail?
A Breast Lift, also known as a Mastopexy, is a technique that involves lifting the nipple to a more youthful place on the breast. Excess skin is removed which tightens the tissue adding firmness to breast shape. When needed, a breast implant may be combined with this procedure to add fullness. Although scars typically heal well, it is important that patients understand where scars need to be placed to achieve the best result.
Which patients are candidates for a Breast lift?
A Breast lift is typically recommended when the breast exhibits significant drooping. Minor drooping can sometimes be treated by the placement of a breast implant.
What does the scarring from a Breast lift look like?
It is important that patients understand the position of scars resulting from a Breast lift. The amount of scarring is variable and depends on the amount of skin that needs to be removed. Scars may be limited to the border of the areola, or involve the center of the breast and fold.
