Liposuction

Liposuction entails the removal of fat through technology based on negative pressure.  The ideal patient for liposuction is an individual who is at his or her appropriate body weight with fatty deposits that do not diminish through diet and exercise. 

Liposuction is typically performed on an ambulatory basis at the CARES Surgery Center.  Access to fatty deposits is achieved via several small puncture wounds.  Dr. Shoen prefers to utilize the Power Assist Technique, a technology which enhances the removal of fat.

Following surgery treated areas remain sore for the first week.  Swelling may be significant and last for up to three months.  To combat swelling patients are instructed to wear a compressive garment for one month.
