Ear pinning (Otoplasty), or revision of prominent ears, entails a minor surgical procedure that must be tailored to a patient's needs. Ear prominence may be secondary to poor development of the anti helical ear fold, excessive depth and projection of the central central portion of the ear, or angulation of the earlobe. Often more than one component of ear prominence needs to be addressed.
Procedures may be performed under local anesthesia or with aid of general anesthesia. The procedure is carried out at one of the local surgery centers on an outpatient basis.
